Environmental Resources Management</span> <span><span lang="" about="/user/3" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">yhgbologah</span></span> <span>Thu, 03/08/2018 - 22:15</span> <p><strong>1.0     DURATION OF PROGRAMME:  </strong></p> <p>(a)  The programme is run in six modules (consisting of four modules of taught courses and two modules of project work, seminar and field work) lasting 24 months for regular students and 36 months for part-time students.</p> <p>(b)  There are 10-sub modules that constitute the taught modules and each sub module is normally run for duration of 3 weeks (including a period for examination).  This arrangement is to enable people from industry to participate in the programme.</p> <p>(c)  Part-time students would be required to register for a minimum of two sub modules per semester while the intervening period would be devoted to project and fieldwork.</p> <p><strong>2.0       ENTRY REQUIREMENTS</strong> </p> <p>(a)   First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) degree or its equivalent in mineral processing, engineering, material science and engineering, architecture, agriculture, renewable natural resources and science</p> <p>(b)   Applicants with Second Class (Lower Division) would be interviewed before admission</p> <p>(c)   Applicants will be required to have some industrial experience</p> <p><strong>3.0     AIM AND OBJECTIVES</strong></p> <p>The programme is aimed at people in the middle to management category in the minerals and related industry who require some environmental orientation to enable them to perform their tasks with environmental management in mind<strong>.</strong></p> <p><strong>4.0     ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS</strong></p> <p>There shall be formal university examinations in all registered courses at the end of each semester. The examination in each course shall not be less than two hours of duration. The end of semester examinations are weighted 70% of the final marks, whilst the continuous assessments are weighted 30%. The continuous assessment shall be determined by any of the combination of the following: mid-semester examinations, quizzes, tests, reports, assignments, practical work, etc. to assess students’ progress.</p> <p><strong>5.0     REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION</strong></p> <p>(a)   The minimum credit hours for the programme is 70</p> <p>(b)   Students should obtain a minimum mark of 50% in all the taught courses and should obtain a minimum cumulative weighted average mark of 55%</p> <p>(c)   Students should participate in fieldwork, laboratory work, give seminars and complete a research work that shall form the basis of his thesis, for assessment.  Each student should successfully defend his thesis at an oral examination</p> <p><strong>6.0     EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES</strong></p>
